FTW – It’s Like The Titanic But With Bears – 24/03/17

Despite being an indy wrestling fan for a relatively long time there are companies in my local area that I have never had a chance to see. Perhaps it is because of the abundance of companies that we have in the Northeast but there are three or four promotions whose shows I have never attended. That number is shrinking as I have set myself the goal of attending a show for every promotion at least once before the end of 2017. Continue reading

Main Event Wrestling – Planet of the Primate, Innisfree, Longbenton 27/01/17

MEW’s first show of 2017 is many things to many people. However, while all the new companies fight to establish a brand and get their name out there another promotion is able brag that it has been established for over ten years and has entertained literally thousands of customers, many of whom may not even have been wrestling fans (remember my friend Kirsty anyone). Absolute Wrestling, Absolute Fight – Club Tour 2016

When I was a young wrestling fan one of my favourite events was the WWE (then WWF) King Of The Ring. I used to love watching the Monday Night Raws that preceded the event to see who would qualify for the next round and then I’d try (and often fail) to stay up and watch the pay-per-view to see who would win and with the exception of Mabel in 1995 I was never disappointed. Yep, that’s right, I wanted Billy Gunn to win in 1999 and to this day I maintain that the WWE failing to continue his push and capitalise on him winning is one of their biggest mistakes of all time. Surely I’m not the only one who would have loved to see Mr Ass win a WWF Championship or two and maybe even have his own ass themed title belt.
