NORTH Wrestling / NCL.10 / A New Error

It feels like only yesterday that Andrew Bowers and I sat down for a pint and discussed his upcoming first show ‘Brace Yourself’. At the time I remember loving his enthusiasm, being impressed by his plans (I loved the idea of a Championship cape) but being slightly concerned by the venue as at the time i had never been to an enjoyable show at The Riverside. Nearly two years after that first meeting and Andrew is ready to put on his tenth show and I have now attended nine very enjoyable shows at The Riverside.

Ten shows is an achievement for any promotion and Andrew huge credit for making NORTH Wrestling the success that it is today. In that time we’ve seen fantastic wrestlers, great matches and even the birth of ‘Geordie Strong Style’. NORTH Wrestling has established itself as one of the coolest promotions in a stacked British scene.

Anyway, thats enough gushing about somwthing you probably already knew, here are the matches for Saturday’s show:

Shreddybrek vs Gavin Lewis

Originally billed as one of England’s Hardest Men it was recently announced that it would be Shreddy who is taking on the returning ‘Hellhound’ Gavin Lewis. EHM lost their match at NCL.9 against The Landed Gentry and will be looking to bounce back here

When EHM were unable to decide who was going to face Gavin Lewis they decided to let “Kurt” decide…

HT Drake vs on of The Landed Gentry

The Landed Gentry won at NCL.9 by upsetting England’s Hardest Men (with the help of some shenanigans) and will be looking to stretch that winning streak out against HT Drake. Drake, who dived off the Riverside’s balcony at the last event when he was in the championship scramble match, is the only person to have competed at every NORTH show and will be looking to make short work of the Tory Boys.

Kris Wolf vs Little Miss Roxxy

To my knowledge this is the first time the world reknowned Kris Wolf will be wrestling in the Northeast of England and she will be matched up against the best woman wrestler the area has to offer, Little Miss Roxxy. Roxxy hasn’t won at NORTH since way back at NCL.2 but has been impressive in every match she has had and may well have defeated Shax in her last two contests if it wasnt for a mixup with her manager Danny O’Doherty.

Amir Jordan vs Chris Brookes

Chris Brookes will be making his long awaited return to NORTH, having not appeared for the promotions since NCL.1. He will be taking on one of the company’s most popular wrestlers, ‘The Bhangra Badboy’ Amir Jordan. Jordan has been an ever present since he debuted at NCL.3 and finally picked up his first victory (against Nathan Cruz in the match of the night). This is my prediction for match of the night.

Four of the maddest men in British Wrestling in a deathmatch. Oh dear. This isnt going to be for the faint if heart.

Rory Coyle will be making his first title defence of the NORTH championship, which he won at NCL.9 by defeating seven other men. He will also be making his first NORTH appearance since separating from Bas Ban. His opponent Chief Deputy Dunne from the Anti-Fun Police will definitely be looking to rain on ‘The Sick Boy’s’ championship parade.

Tickets cost £15 for VIP (£12 for students) or £10 for standard (£8 for students) and are usually more expensive at the door and may sell out so avoid missing out and save some cash by pre-ordering now here.

A VIP ticket gets you early entry into the venue which gives you a chances to peruse the merchandise stand, meet any of the wrestlers that are loitering about, pick your spot for the show and nost importantly watch the third ever ‘A Question of NORTH’ (this time with added Maffew from Botchamania)!

For more information check out NORTH’s Facebook page.

The venue usually has special offers on drinks for NORTH shows so if you needed another reason to go there is that!

We hope to see you there.
