If you’ve followed Calling Spots for any length of time, you’ll know that we have a penchant for physical things, especially awesome wrestling merchandise. Hell, we make a printed magazine in 2016 and have started a wrestling subscription service in Wrestle Crate UK. With that in mind, we were over the moon when our friends at WWE Home Video kindly sent us a copy of their new WrestleMania 32 Ultimate Collectors Edition DVD.

On 2nd October 2015 myself and the rest of the Calling Spots Northeast branch were in attendance at Northumbria University for the celebration of Main Event Wrestling’s ten year anniversary. The show, named Northern Bash, was scheduled to include some of the biggest stars of the UK scene and over 300 fans were in attendance eager for some top quality grappling. This weekend the TNA Tour arrives in the UK, with a card of wrestler reaffirmed and strengthened by the reformation of popular tag team, Beer Money. James Storm’s decision to return to Impact Wrestling from NXT has turned some heads in the wrestling industry, but there’s no doubting that TNA is a stronger place for his presence as well as the ‘It Factor’, Bobby Roode.

“There is a lot of rumours and speculation as to the future of AJ Styles. As a lifelong wrestling fans [sic] we’d love nothing more than to see him win the Royal Rumble, finally making the best wrestler on the planet the WWE Champion.
I don’t know if he’s going to be there or not, but I do know on 13th January in Newcastle AJ Styles will face John Morrison to see who becomes the 5 Star Wrestling Champion. Then on the 14th January in Sheffield, he goes on to face the greatest high flier of all time, Rey Mysterio. Before finishing the tour in Liverpool facing off against long time nemesis, Ring of Honor: World Champion Jay Lethal. Could this be his last set of matches in the indies?”

As many of you will know, I write one of these to open up every issue of our wrestling magazine. Usually I touch on the themes inside that particular issue of Calling Spots, some observations or feelings on the world of professional wrestling and I am always super grateful for each and every one of you for supporting what we do. I truth, I’m usually still blown away that we sell thousands of magazines when my original goal for issue one was to simply sell 40 copies.

Although I cannot speak for the rest of the staffers at Calling Spots HQ, I for one was excited when the owner of Australian wresting promotion Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) contacted us asking us to review the product that his promotion offers. My excitement was two-fold, firstly it was incredibly cool to know that people on literally the other side of the world are fans of our work here at Calling Spots and secondly it is a rarity for me to be given the chance to view a product that I know little (or in this case nothing) about. So here goes…
