Here at the Calling Spots Fanzine we are strictly for fans, by fans. While we were putting together issue 1, I head hunted some specialists at certain things, who loved wrestling, to put together the fantastic team that is currently working hard to bring you issue 2. We also had some great people sending us photos to use, DVDs to review and much more. This is what made the fanzine what it is, a people’s FANzine.
On a weekly basis, we get emails and messages from people wanting to contribute to our fanzine. We appreciate this so much, and I encourage creative wrestling fans to submit anything they want to callingspots@gmail.com, however, due to the strict “vibe” of the fanzine, a lot of content unfortunately does not get published. For that reason I thought I would publically announce what we look for, including one “spot” to join our team of frequent contributors, following a successful trial in the next issue:
- The opportunity to join our team is for a female writer, ideally with experience in writing fiction/short stories, with a passion for adult literature/romance and pro wrestling. With the current popularity of 5 shades of grey, we are looking to feature some wrestling romance in the fanzine, and to be honest I think it needs a female touch. Too much testosterone on our team
- Fan photos – We want to only use photos taken by fans so we love when we get emails from photographers (or budding photographers) who attend wrestling shows.
- Likeminded independently ran wrestling projects looking to advertise or promote their project. We want to help raise awareness to our fans of your cool projects, and would love it if you told your fans/customers about ours. For this reason we are running multiple cross promotions in each issue. If you have your own cool project, company, wrestling promotions, etc and would love to work together, just drop us a line and let’s talk.
- Anything different. Our team consists of specialists in mainstream and indy coverage/articles, cartoons, poetry, real-life illustrations and film reviews. If you have a fresh idea and want to get involved then get in touch.
We love hearing from you guys, but the above is stuff that, as long as it “fits” with what we are doing, is more likely to make it into the fanzine and get published and sent to readers all over the world.
